At St Matthew's we seek to create a safe space for all in our historic Art Nouveau base.
We're a fully functioning church who moved to the building in 1988 and have sought to practically live out the transformative power of God's love in our every day lives. We have something on almost every day of the week for people of all ages and stages, so please get in contact for more information!
Our building dates back to 1907 and was designed by William Daniel McLennan, a member of the then congregation and a notable architect. McLennan, whilst tasked with building a gothic-style church, drew much of his inspiration from Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Queen's Cross Church in Glasgow.
The Herald has stated that St Matthews even ‘…out-Mackintoshes the much-cherished church that Charlie built…’ and some consider it to be the most important Art Nouveau church in Scotland
Come to St Matthew's - we have a space for you! Whoever you are, whatever you've come from, visit us and we'll love you like Jesus does.
